How the Tantra Sofa’s Dual-Arc Design Actually Works
A step-by-step look at the mechanics behind the design.
A step-by-step look at the mechanics behind the design.
The Tantra Sofa® looks simple — two connected curves — but the shape is doing more work than it looks like. Here’s how it actually functions.
The frame is built from a lower arc and a higher arc, set at complementary angles. Rather than one flat surface, your body follows the curve, which naturally changes the angle of your hips depending on where you’re positioned along it.
On a flat bed, your weight concentrates on whatever part of your body is bearing down hardest — usually the knees, lower back, or neck. The curve of the arc spreads that weight across a wider surface, which is why positions that would normally tire you out quickly can be held longer.
Because the two arcs sit at different heights, one partner can recline into the higher arc while the other is supported by the lower arc — both getting back support at the same time, rather than one partner bracing against the other.
| On a Flat Bed | On the Tantra Sofa® |
|---|---|
| Weight concentrated on knees/back/neck | Weight spread across the curve |
| Fixed, flat angle | Variable angle depending on position on the arc |
| One partner often braces the other | Both partners can be supported by the furniture itself |
No — the design is meant to reduce the physical effort needed, not require more flexibility. Most positions are easier to hold on the arcs than on a flat surface.
A wedge pillow gives you one fixed angle. The dual-arc shape offers a continuous curve, so you can shift position along it rather than being limited to one angle.
